This leading global manufacturer of electron microscopes moved to a new address in mid-2014, opening the largest technology building constructed in the Czech Republic in the same year at the Černovice Terrace site in Brno.
Our work for FEI was one of a kind. We were involved in the preparatory phase, i.e. quantifying the investor's processes with the design, as well as the actual creation of the interior. The design was preceded by a thorough study of the company's philosophy, its workflow, the needs of its employees and the outlook for future IT trends. Our work resulted in a lasting design; this task was purely a team and project-managed U1 standard.
In the project, we created 500 technically polished office workstations, plus 30 equipped meeting rooms, 20 kitchens and a copy centre with excellent acoustic performance, as well as various types of soft zones for interactions and touchdown work. We came up with a brand new minimalist concept for the entrance areas and a large open gallery canteen.
'We spend a big part of our lives at work. The design of work and common areas, the colour scheme, and the choice of equipment and furniture were key in the construction of the new technology centre. Our employees were involved throughout the process to allow them to express their own ideas. U1 provided experienced professionals who offered expert know-how, as well as a willingness to listen and discuss our needs. U1 played a crucial role in the final feel of the space and its integration with the architecture. We are delighted that the vast majority of our staff feels comfortable at the company. U1 has the lion's share in this success.'
